Im a wannabe film maker and ive written a script and arranged a cast but i dont know what to do next. Do i try to find funding? or do i try and get cheap equipment so that i can make the movie anyway? If i do get equipment does anyone in West Yorkshire know the best place to find it?

Unless your a kid, or doing a movie about urban life, drugs or something like that...and you find some scheme that offers people in those situations the money to make films you are never gunna get any funding becos your a first timer. Your best bet it to buy a camcorder and start making movies in your backyard.

well you got to ask your self how much money you have in your budget and what equipment (if any) you have and/or can get hold of. The chances are you probably know someone who has a home video camera, and these are great for begginers. Its obviously your first priority.
Now ask your self, does it have an on board mic? Does it work well? If yes, i would stick with that, but that is only because ive had a bad experience with a sound guy and i blame it on the external mic. But after all, your doing it cheaply as possible, right? If you want an external, then what i did first time was i turned a speaker into a microphone and then taped it to the end of a broomhandle (oldest trick in the book). But remember to check the sound levels! This is why you need a sober sound guy.
Lighting....hmm well depends on your script. You can probably get by with just practicals (lights in the actual scene), day light and a strong 500 watt light.
I live nowhere near yorkshire, so i have no clue about renting facilities, but the chances are there will be some kind of media workshop/studio nearby that you could use to rent out and edit your film.
But its expensive to use a studio for editing.
I got my hands on some free editing equipment for my computer which is easily copyable, and youll probably be able to get it from someone. If yu even have a computer.

    Good luck man
